Don, a dishcloth bear

Don is an artist teddy bear, an original one of a kind modflowers design, all hand made from a pale yellow fuzzy fabric. Don started life as a strangely fluffy dishcloth, far away in Australia. I discovered these furry cloths at my sister's house during my visit earlier this year and couldn't resist making bears from a couple of them.

An original one of a kind modflowers design, Don is one of my slightly larger bears, with long arms and a long nose. He's a down-to-earth kind of guy, as befitting his humble origins.

His red trousers (removable with care) are made from a vintage napkin, and his waistcoat (not removable) from another dishcloth (this time from the UK). It has a wooden button and he also sports a jaunty neckerchief with a cowboy print.

Don has tiny amber glass eyes and his features and claws are hand embroidered with vintage thread. He has a definite vintage appearance, as the material from which he is made was not unused in its previous existence as a cleaning cloth (though of course, it has been washed prior to becoming Don). Please don't hold this against him.

Don's head, legs and arms are cotter pin jointed and may be gently moved, so he can sit or stand and turn his head. He will not, however, stand up to rough handling. He is stuffed with reclaimed polyester filling and weighted with tiny steel pellets.

A perfect little decorative companion, Don will sit or stand (with something to lean against) on a shelf or mantelpiece, to keep you company - or to warm the heart of the one you love.

Don measures 22 cm (approximately 8.5 inches) from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.

This item is individually made by hand from new, vintage and reclaimed materials and is not suitable for children under 14 years of age, due to small parts and delicate construction. Please keep away from moisture.
